Pā Hangarau is a 3-day Virtual Reality wānanga for taitamariki (7 - 13 years) to explore a range of different VR experiences and then work collaboratively to build immersive VR environments that celebrate te ao Māori.

Māori are under-represented in tech and it is time for the tech workforce to become more diverse and inclusive.

During Pā Hangarau, whānau are invited to come and celebrate the efforts of the taitamariki, wānanga about the opportunities and threats technology presents us with, and to learn about education and career pathways in tech.

In April 2024, we are partnering with Te Poho O Rāwiri Pā.

Pā Hangarau will run from Tuesday 16th - Thursday 18th April, 9am - 3pm.

*Tamariki need to attend ALL 3 days.  Numbers are limited and priority is given to ngā uri o Ngāti Oneone.

In recent years, Tōnui Collab have partnered with various marae in Te Tairāwhiti. We thank Rangiwaho Marae, Pākōwhai Marae, Whangara Marae and Hauiti Marae for collaborating with us to create unique STEMM learning opportunities for our rangatahi.

We are always in the planning phase for upcoming marae-based STEMM wānanga so if you would like to invite us onto your marae, please contact us at

He nūnui te mihi to our funding partner, The Tindall Foundation, for their support and recognition of the value these marae-based wānanga have to our taitamariki, hāpori and whānau.
