AFTER SCHOOL WORKSHOPS
Every term TŌNUI Collab invites young explorers to join our team for some hands on exploration! Tamariki explore and learn, create and problem solve. They will also be encouraged to develop their collaborative skills.
In term 1, 2021 we are growing our after school offerings to meet the interests of our community; this term we have three after school workshops.
All of these after school workshop series run for 8 weeks and thanks to the generous support of Trust Tairāwhiti, each eight-week series is $140.
Digital Art Workshops
On Tuesday afternoons, for the very first time, Tōnui Collab is running an after school Digital Art workshop series. Every Tuesday afternoon for 8 weeks; 3:30pm – 5pm starting February 16th, tamariki aged 7 - 14 years are invited to develop their digital art skills. The series will finish with a small exhibition of the works the artists have created.
On Wednesday afternoons, we are continuing our after school STEM workshops. Every Wednesday afternoon for 8 weeks; 3:30pm – 5pm starting February 17th, tamariki aged 7 - 14 years are invited to explore the diversity of STEM - from hands-on engineering to digital game development.
VEX Robotics Workshops
On Thursday afternoons, we are starting an after school VEX Robotics Club. This will be a year-long initiative but bookings will be term-by-term. Every Thursday afternoon for 8 weeks in term 1; 3:30pm – 5pm starting February 18th, young people aged 9 - 13 years are invited to come and experiment with VEX IQ Robotics. The goal of the workshop series is to prepare to compete in the 2021-22 VEX IQ Robotics Challenges - there are regional, national and even world championship opportunities.
