AFTER SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

Every term TŌNUI Collab invites young explorers to join our team for some hands-on exploration! Tamariki explore and learn, create and problem solve. They will also be encouraged to develop their collaborative skills.

In term 4, 2021 we have three after-school workshops. These after-school workshop series run for 8 weeks.

Digital Art Workshops
On Tuesday afternoons, Tōnui Collab hosts an after-school Digital Art workshop series. Every Tuesday afternoon (3:30pm – 5pm) for 8 weeks starting Tuesday 26 October, tamariki aged 7 - 13 years are invited to develop their digital art skills. The series will finish with a small exhibition of the works the artists have created. This workshop series cost $140 per child.

Game Development Workshops

Every Wednesday afternoon for 8 weeks; 3:30pm – 5pm starting Wednesday 27 October, tamariki aged 7 - 13 years are invited to learn, design, develop, and test platform games. This workshop series cost $140 per child.

VEX Robotics Workshops
On Thursday afternoons, we host an after-school VEX Robotics Club. This is a year-long initiative but bookings will be term-by-term. Every Thursday afternoon for 8 weeks (3:30pm – 5pm) starting Thursday 28 October, young people aged 9 - 14 years are invited to come and experiment with VEX IQ Robotics. The goal of the workshop series is to prepare to compete in the 2021-22 VEX IQ Robotics Challenges - there are regional, national and even world championship opportunities. This workshop series cost $140 per child.

COVID Response Plan
In term 3, we had to cancel most of our after-school workshops due to the COVID lockdown. In preparation for term 4, we have been reviewing our programme development and we are designing programmes that can move online if necessary.

If you book your child into next term's workshops, we'd like to ask you a few extra questions about the computer hardware your child has access to at home. Please note, it is NOT a requirement for your child to have access to a computer or other digital device at home, your responses help us to design programmes that meet your tamariki where they are at right now. Our intention is that if another lockdown takes place in term 4 we will not cancel workshops but move immediately into a remote learning model. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
