Every school holidays, Tōnui Collab partners with different marae in Te Tairāwhiti to create unique marae-based STEMM* wānanga for rangatahi with connections to the marae.
* STEMM - science, technology, engineering, maths, mātauranga Māori
Over three days, rangatahi collaboratively design and develop Virtual Reality experiences that celebrate te Ao Māori.
Rangatahi are invited to experiment with various VR technology, to wānanga about the opportunities and threats technology presents us with, and to learn about education and career pathways in tech.
Māori are under-represented in tech and it is time for the tech workforce to become more diverse and inclusive. During the marae-based STEMM Wānanga, whānau are invited to come and celebrate the efforts of the rangatahi and discuss education and career pathways.
In recent years, Tōnui Collab have partnered with various marae in Te Tairāwhiti. We thank Rangiwaho Marae, Pākōwhai Marae, Whangara Marae and Hauiti Marae for collaborating with us to create unique STEMM learning opportunities for our rangatahi.
We are always in the planning phase for upcoming marae-based STEMM wānanga so if you would like to invite us onto your marae, please contact us at admin@tonuicollab.com
He nūnui te mihi to our funding partner, The Tindall Foundation, for their support and recognition of the value these marae-based wānanga have to our rangatahi, hāpori and whānau.
